Sickle Cell Scholarship
To assist with the financial burden Sickle Cell Disease places on families and their children who desire to achieve higher education. To also help students with their educational expenses for college so they can focus on what’s most important – their Medical career or their career in Performing Arts.
$500-1000 Scholarship Each - (4) Scholarships Awarded – 2 for Medical/2 for Performing Arts
Helping to find a cure for Sickle Cell Disease is our top priority. This scholarship is to further the career of a student pursuing a medical career in Sickle Cell Research, Hematology and Genetic Testing.
Performing Arts Scholarship
Pursuing a career in performing arts can be a difficult and limited opportunity. This scholarship is for any student desiring a career in performing arts to pursue their dream in spite of the odds.
Must be a Student within FWISD or Crowley ISD with a valid Student ID
Student must enroll in a College or University within Texas
Field of study for student must be in Performing Arts (Theater, Acting, Film or Television)
Field of study for student must be in Medical Field (Research and Study of Sickle Cell Disease, Doctor or Nursing, Hematology or Genetic Testing)
How Do I Apply?
Students must submit a single-spaced, typed essay explaining their passion for Performing Arts or the reason for going into the Medical Field; and why they feel they deserve the Michael Patterson Sickle Cell Scholarship. Let us know your education plans, trends you foresee occurring pertaining to the Arts or Medical field, who inspires you and where you see yourself in 5-10 years. There is no maximum length to the essay, but must be at least 1000 words.
Information that must be included with essay:
Full name, complete contact information, current school attending, and the Texas College or university you plan to attend.
As tuition and college expenses continue to rise, we feel it is in our best interest to help the most deserving students. This brings us many tough decisions in deciding who is the most “deserving”. Our ideal candidate is someone who stands out in the crowd of applicants. After reading your essay, we want to know you’re a winner without any doubts. Write in your own unique style and total honesty about the passion you possess for Performing Arts or what drives you to want to go into the Medical Field.

The deadline for receiving applications is February 28th. The winners will be notified by phone call and email.
